In this course, we will examine the origins of residential architecture, analyse traditional vernacular buildings, explain the key principles of sustainable architecture, explore natural materials and construction methods, discover a variety of alternative residential development types, introduce basic architectural drawing techniques, review common development controls and approvals and undertake a design workshop based on participants’ own projects. Upon completion of the course, participants should be able to understand and practically apply sustainable design principles and efficiently communicate their development proposal to architects, consultants, contractors and councils.
